Hey Kids!

Tomorrow is Wednesday and that means New Comic Day!

This week is a huge ship week for Green Brain Comics. And we worry that weeks like this create a fiscal blinder in front of some smaller profile books. So in my capacity as Blogmeister General, please allow me to direct your attention to a graphic novel by our pal Tony Consiglio.
It's called 110 Per¢. Here is how publisher Top Shelf describes it:

Meet Cathy, Gerty and Sasha, three mature women with one common bond: their absolute obsession with the boy band, 110 Per¢ ("110 Percent"). Unfortunately, deception is getting the better of them, and throughout the story, relationships will crumble, laws will be broken, and lives will be shattered. The Best of Pop Art Funnies

Our pal Marty Hirchak is being featured in a showing at Rivers Edge Gallery in Wyandotte. The opening reception is this Friday June 16th. Along with Marty, several of his contributing artists, including our pals Sean Bieri, Matt Feazell and many others will be included in the show. Let's all show up and give our local cartoonists some love.

6/6/6 National Day of Slayer at Green Brain Comics

Hey Kids!

This Tuesday is June 6th 2006 and that means it's Slayer Savings Time for anyone that wears a SLAYER T-shirt to Green Brain Comics.

Are you worried about an imminent rapture? Well than visit us on 06/06/2006 from 10am to 8pm. If you are sporting your fresh SLAYER tour shirt, or if you have a battle-damaged SLAYER shirt from the old days (hopefully in an airtight bag) we will give you an additional 10% off your total purchase. This does not include items currently on hold, so don't get any crazy ideas.

Your soundtrack for shopping that day will be.... SLAYER!!!!!
This will probably be the only time that I will be playing SLAYER music in the store, so I'll keep it going as long as I am there, probably 10am-3:30pm. Can't vouch for what the boss will change it to after I leave. Just in case you miss out on the music I posted a video on our myspace page.

Slayer (along with Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth and others) is often credited with creating American thrash metal by speeding up the sound of NWOBHM bands like Iron Maiden. Slayer also drew from hardcore punk influences like Minor Threat, Dead Kennedys and The Misfits; borrowing some of that music's emphasis on extremely quick tempos in many of their songs.
