Dirty Found Magazine Issue #3 Found $10.00

Like our last pervy offering, Dirty Found #3 brings you the world's
finest sort-of-porn. We don't have a name for what you'll witness
inside these pages, you're not gonna want to masturbate to it, but
you'll wanna wash your hands afterwards. A curious look at other
people's love lives. "Dirty FOUND is so beyond brilliant, it boggles
the mind. Like most totally brilliant things, it's completely simple
(& also not)."-JUGGS MAGAZINE. $10 cover

Fucking Champs V I cd on Drag City $14.99

Their almost clairvoyant guitar interplay & ferocious drum attack
is captured in transparent sterling detail. Their grand &
benevolent (yet playful) sense of humor (that has no relationship to
irony whatsoever) arcs above the melee, creating songs. Feat. a cameo
from "America’s Funnyman" Neil Hamburger that is completely &
utterly musical. And what else would you expect from the inventors
& sole progenitors of the genre known as "Total Music." And who
else would you expect to include a hit from 200 yrs ago on their album,
finding nothing but pure rock in the ancient melody? Nobody but The
Fucking Champs.

Grails Burning Off Impurities on Temporary Residence $14.99

An increased interest in psychedelic, ambient & world musics is
most likely to blame for their exploRreastiiodne nofc tehe
lesser-traveled paths of modern music. This is very likely the closest
they will ever get to making a classic rock record

MELT BANANA / CHUNG SPLIT LP $29.99

this special record has a 3-d cover (lenticular) and is a hard one to
come by. we only have one copy, and we're not doing any holds for this
item. if you want it you need to come get it now, or call and do
mailorder asap.

Melt-Banana Bambi's Dilemma cd on Azap $14.99

On their sixth full-length studio release they exercise a hitherto
undetected area of their musical musculature: the "rock"region. The
band refuses to accommodate any pigeonholing: "Maybe it is rock, but
maybe not. We just make whatever we want. We just follow our own
instincts!

Newsom, Joanna & the Ys Street Band cd EP on Drag City $11.99

12" also available $12.99

All new arrangements & performances of 2 already-classic Joanna
songs & the debut of a brand-new song, it’s a solid short-play
record at least & another inspiring slice of Newsom at best.

Of Montreal Icons, Abstract Thee cd on Polyvinyl $8.99

Previously only available through Polyvinyl mailorder & the band on
tour. Considered the companion piece to "Hissing Fauna, Are You the
Destroyer?" All songs were recorded during the Hissing Fauna sessions

Sunburned Z cd on Ecstatic Peace $10.99

(SUNBURNED HAND OF THE MAN) "Z is about infinity & the double
dimension we all live in yet don't fully understand. Z is the sound of
that feeling you get when you think you're being watched or followed by
the omnipotent one. Z is for believers & followers of the "Ecstatic
Truth" that fuels this mysterious universe. Z has always existed &
here is is as remembered & transfered solid by the people under the
sun, the Sunburned.." - John Moloney, Sunburned

Young Gods Super Ready/Fragmenté cd on Ipecac $16.99

Ground breakers for 20 years, these Swiss music geniuses have been at
the forefront of music & sampling technology since their inception,
exploring organic experimentation, classical derivation (even covering
Kurt Weil), & electronic excess; forever on the edge of creation.
One of the few groups to remain consistently relevant, engaging &
surprising for the last two decades.

Tare, Avey & Kria Brekkan- Pullhair Rubeye cd on Paw Tracks $15.99

lp also $15.99

DAVE PORNER of ANIMAL COLLECTIVE & KRISTIN ANNA VALTYSDOTTIR of MUM
met a few yrs back & started playing music together in the summer
of '05. Recently they married & now live together in NYC. Recorded
their debut collaboration w/ guitars & piano on an 8 track in their
practice space in Brooklyn. This is a motley collection of fun &
somber songs. Some of the tracks are instrumental, textured, &
trancelike. They sound like they could come from another world. Other
songs are lyrically based, calmer, more introspective

Smegma 33 1/3 cd on Important $14.99

Smegma’s tribute to their twentieth-century avant-garde & out-jazz
influences. The title is one part reference to the happy revival of
passionate vinyl listening in the twenty-first century, and one part
celebration of over thirty-three years of being one of the most
freethinking and original American underground groups. Its focus,
ideas, and determination has brought the group through more than three
decades and to this day it remains unparalleled, original, and highly
influential. They’re all here on 33 1/3—Oblivia, Ju Suk Reet Meate,
Burned Mind, Conroy, Dr. Id—the core group drumming up their influences
and pulling off another burning album of magnificent proportions

OLIVEROS, PAULINE: Accordion & Voice CD on Important $14.99

OLIVEROS, PAULINE: The Wanderer CD on Important $14.99

ABSTRACT, JERRY: Luvbytes 12" $8.99

After his magnificent Mudtsmut EP, Jerry Abstract, the digital stepper
from Seattle, returns with Luvbytes: space rock techno at its best.
These four tracks showcase Jerry's main talents: combining distorted
funk riffs with digital glitch. Jerry does not need to fit in between
the newest soft-rock minimal or romantic afterhours music: "Enevim,"
"Varsaw," "Slannt" and especially "Luvbytes" make us remember a freedom
of peak and love in digital music. space rock? it does not sound like
that to us!! this is booty shakin' music!! (quote from w&c)

BASINSKI, WILLIAM: Shortwavemusic CD $14.99

Re-issue after 10 years (first issue on CD), originally released in
limited edition LP in 1997 on Noton (now Raster-Noton) . Full length CD
with bonus track not on original LP. The works on Shortwavemusic
resulted from a series of experiments in 1982 using lo-fi technology to
extract sounds from the airwaves and weave them into musical
tapestries. Using two reel-to-reel decks from the '60s, a radio and a
shortwave radio, Basinski recorded samples of music from the radio,
edited the tape into loops of varying lengths, and slowed them down.
These themes were then layered together in real time to an
accompaniment of randomly shifting shortwave radio static. The themes
explored were often brief excerpts [3 or 4 notes] from muzak-type
string versions of American popular standards. By manipulating these
themes and mixing them with an existing symphony of electronic
information, Basinski has created a series of glacial, atmospheric
aural landscapes for the listener to inhabit. The

music is timeless and compelling - a remarkably original experimental music album.

THE GO Howl On The Haunted Beat You Ride on Cass Records

cd $10.99

lp $13.99

this is the brand new release on CASS records by The Go!! it is only
currently available through record stores in the detroit area (like
us!!) and ben is doing NO direct mailorder for this item, so if you
need a copy, get it from US!! crazy detroit rock n roll!!the lp on this
has a great gatefold cover made of heavy weight board which gives it
that old school, thick and durable feel when you hold it! ben did not
skimp on the high quality packaging for this release.

BASHIR, MUNIR: Rhythm & Melodies CD $18.99

The late Munir Bashir was known as 'The Emir of the Ud,' famous for his
long, Indian raga-influenced improvisations. From an obscure instrument
used in accompaniment, barely known outside the Arab world, the ud was
to become, in his hands, a vehicle for a mystical or, to use his own
expression, a 'metaphysical' musical language. The same phenomenon
occurred with Munir Bashir as did Ravi Shankar: the rediscovery of a
universal music transcending all frontiers. This previously-unreleas ed
recording dates from the '80s, when Munir Bashir was making regular
appearances on BBC TV. Most of what he performs here is Western music -
the theme tunes of famous alms or hit songs of the time.

RILEY, TERRY: Les Yeux Fermés & Lifespan CD $17.99

After changing the world in the late '60s with In C and A Rainbow in
Curved Air, legendary American composer and father of minimalism Terry
Riley abandoned tape manipulation and written composition to
concentrate on longform keyboard cycles and improvisations. In the
early '70s, while in Europe, he was invited to create scores for two
films. The first, in 1972, was Joel Santoni's Les Yeux Fermés, a
feature-length art film that instantly became a cult classic by virtue
of its never having screened in the USA. The second, Lifespan, directed
by Alexander Whitelaw in 1974, featured Klaus Kinski. Both soundtracks
were released in limited editions on LP and have long been
out-of-print. This first-ever CD release of these two classic Terry
Riley soundtracks - both on one disc - was remastered from the original
tapes, the hypnotic songs sounding far superior to the below-average
vinyl pressings.

VIBRACATHEDRAL ORCHESTRA: Wisdom Thunderbolt CD on VHF $15.99

Wisdom Thunderbolt marks the triumphant return of Vibracathedral
Orchestra after more than three years in the wilderness of intermittent
performance, tangential projects, and unfindable limited editions. The
seven tracks on Wisdom are the VCO's most rocking dispatch ever, neatly
combining the Ra-like collage of tracks like Wisdom Thunderbolt with
the insistent pulsing jams of 'A Natural Fact' and 'Order of the Broad
Eraser.'

COLD BLEAK HEAT: Simitu CD $14.99

Simitu is the second album from Cold Bleak Heat, the dream-team, East
Coast avant jazz line-up of alto/tenor saxophonist Paul Flaherty
(Dream/Aktion Unit), drummer Chris Corsano (Vampire Belt, Six Organs of
Admittance), trumpeter Greg Kelley (Nmperign, Heathen Shame), and
acoustic bassist Matt Heyner (No Neck Blues Band, Test). While
explosive as their 2005 debut, Simitu brings a melancholic, even
sensitive feel to these improvisations. Yet, no need to worry about
these four wipin' tears on their sleeves. CBH wages between the melodic
centers/ghostly solos of Flaherty/Kelley and loose, downhill, free blow
outs you'd expect, all while maintaining the grand swell of a hardcore
jazz symphony. Features liner notes and drawings by Christina Carter
(Charalambides) .

VA - Folk Is Not a Four Letter Word Volume 2 on DELAY 68 (UK) CD $17.99

Folk-Funk? Electric Folk? Hippy-Rock? Acid Folk? Sunshine-Pop?
Folk-Fusion? Folksploitation? Once again music lovers struggle to
bridge the deep & wide gully where another hybrid genre wanders
lonely amongst the vinyl ghosts of yesteryear's ethereal love songs.
Let us introduce a second flock of unsung songbirds who flutter between
rocks and hardened pastures too commercial to be traditional -- not
successful enough to be credible -- from the wrong side of town -- on
the other side of the globe. Here are some of the would-be folk legends
that you didn't read about, they never played the festivals and you
never heard their records... until today. Folk Is Not A Four Letter
Word Volume 2 is the fifth release from Delay68 Records and the
follow-up to the critically acclaimed best seller first volume, and its
sequel Prog Is Not A Four Letter Word. Featuring a few old faces and a
host of undiscovered talent from home and abroad, this brilliant
compilation picks up where volume

one left off and promises to be even better! Once again compiled by,
and featuring original artwork and sleevenotes from Andy Votel (Twisted
Nerve/BMusic) . Artists: Carol Batton, Midsommar, Y Triban, These
Trails, Chuck & Mary Perrin, Jan & Lorraine, Elly &
Rikkert, Susan Christie, Paul Parrish, Emmanuelle Parrenin, Naomi,
Parchment, Alexis Korner & CCS, Woody Simmons, Vainica Doble,
11.59, Midwinter, Pentangle, Sibylle Baier and Turid.

VA - Dandelion: The Complete Dandelion Records Singles Collection on CHERRY RED (UK) 3CD BOX $37.99

...1969-1972. "The complete singles collection of the late and
legendary DJ John Peel's beloved Dandelion Records, compiled and
brought to you for the very first time by Cherry Red Records 3CD box
set, individual CD wallets and a 48-page booklet containing the story
of Dandelion with original artwork, images, memorabilia and
heart-warming, revealing contributions from Clive Selwood and the
artists themselves. In 1969, in the face of the entrenched attitudes of
most of the major record companies, the late and legendary DJ John Peel
launched his own record label with manager Clive Selwood called
Dandelion. They would oversee 18 acts, release 27 albums plus a sampler
compilation before the label was brought to a close in 1972. They also
released a similar number of singles, compiled here for the very first
time by Cherry Red Records. Lovingly restored and beautifully packaged,
with contributions from the artists and Clive Selwood himself, this
wonderful 3CD box set will

astound many and bring joy to collectors and John's listeners and fans
alike." Artists: Beau, Bridget St. John, Principal Edwards Magic
Theatre, Clague, Gene Vincent, Medicine Head, Mike Hart, Bill Oddie,
Stackwaddy, Siren, The Way We Live, The Yamasukis, The Coxhill/Bedford
Duo, Will Dandy & The Dandylettes, Supersister, Tractor, Kevin
Coyne and Clifford T. Ward.

VA - Diamond Joe: The Sound of Meeks-ville on RPM CD $17.99

As the infamous Tea Chest tapes continue to remain an enigma, we open
up our own box of masters to discover some hitherto unissued
Meek-produced recordings, plus other recordings long since unavailable.
With the release timed to coincide with the general notice being given
to the 40th anniversary of Meek's death (February 1967), this
collection will suit those looking for something new to extend their
Meek collection. The collection brings with it great examples of the
Meek production sound. From Glenda Collins, Meek's best known female
artist, is an unreleased version of her apocalyptic single recorded in
stereo. Two of the Ray Dexter tracks are also in stereo, a rare format
in the early 60s when these were made. Ray Dexter, a singer-songwriter
who was busy right through the 60s with singles released on many
labels, is included with four of his songs released for the first time.
Backing is by the Tornados, and include his demo of 'You Took My Love
For Granted,' a song he

wrote and Meek recorded with John Leyton as the B-side of the
international hit 'Wild Wind.' We also have the four John Carter and
Ken Lewis recordings Meek produced which have been unavailable for a
long time, plus real rarities from Joy and Dave, the Moontrekkers and
complete unknowns Johnny Garfield, The Ramblers and Dauphine Street
Six. As it says on the tin, extremely rare and collectable Joe Meek
recordings.

HEDAYAT, DASHIELL Obsolete on MANTRA CD $18.99

New deluxe digipak version (on the long defunct Manta label?) of this
1971 classic. The LP was originally released on the legendary Shandar
label. Hedayat sang lead vocals, played keyboards and "cosmic-hedayat-
rumble and cut-ups," coerced Daevid Allen and Gillie Smyth (of Gong),
William Burroughs, Robert Wyatt's son Sam and others to join him in
recording this stoned, prog-psych masterwork of two long tracks. The
memorable message: "This record must be played as loud as possible,
must be heard as stoned as impossible, and thank you everybody" is
still intact. A classic deserving of its cult.

TARENTEL:Home Ruckus: Double-Sided Air 7" $6.99

Double-Sided Air is the latest emission from San Francisco's
shape-shifting post-post rockers, Tarentel. With references to the
clattering percussion of Chris Corsano, the droning ambience of Mirror
or Stars of the Lid and the hefty improv of Sunburned Hand of the Man,
the band have found a fresh voice. Made up of two tracks, both part of
one all-encompassing whole, these are home-recorded gems. Strictly
limited to 500 copies, this is the perfect follow-up to the band's
long-sold out Home Ruckus LP on the Root Strata label. Cosmic.

O.S.T. Valerie and Her Week of Wonders on FINDERS KEEPERS (UK) LP $27.99

Deluxe gatefold LP version of the soundtrack to this Czech underground
film from 1973. Finders Keepers make musical history once again with
what they regard as their very finest, darkest and most magnificent
hour as they release the delicately haunting and sacred score to
Jaromil Jires' essential Eastern European hallucinogenic-
baroque-witch- flick Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders. Lubos Fiser
provides what is perhaps the greatest musical score of all the maligned
Czech New Wave feature-films with a gossamer-fragile blend of
pastoral-orchestral folk songs and clockwork harpsichords. From the
very first delicate chord to the final crescendo, this joyous sound is
as addictive as the bizarre imagery seen in this seldom celebrated
cinematic gem (which was screened in front of 300 mesmerized patrons of
this year's Green Man festival). Naturally, the list of musical
pioneers who freely confess their allegiance to the score verifies its
elevated place in contemporary pop.

Birmingham's dedicated concrete-pop- psych combo Broadcast recently
paid homage to the soundtrack on their Ha-Ha Sound LP while groups such
as Espers, Fursaxa and Marissa Nadler recently contributed to a live
performance of the soundtrack as a homage to its unwaning influence on
their music. Echoes of the score can also be heard in recent music by
Vashti Bunyan and it has been cited as a huge influence to the likes of
Tim Burton who based the carnival scene at the end of Big Fish on the
original film. Previously unprepared for public consumption, the
immaculate release has been compiled in close accordance to the
original storyline which was released in 1935 as a surrealist novel by
Vladislav Nezval. The orchestral suites of music have been separated
into 23 chapters with titles derived from the controversial novella.
This seminal release comes complete with unseen archive images,
original international poster designs and new and extensive sleevenotes

BO HOUSE UPDATE

Saturday, April 28th: CD release for Frank Pahl's "Songs of War and Peace"

Some of you may know the side of composer/inventor Frank Pahl that has
a weak spot for protest songs from a few of his recent, frenetic
acoustic performances. His new CD "Songs of War and Peace" features
some of this material, but in settings that bear a closer resemblance
to the pretty and challenging music he's best known for. With a couple
great send-ups of patriotic songs opening and closing the record,
you'll be all set for this year's Fourth of July. Coincidentally, the
show falls on National Impeachment Day. What could be more perfect?
Doors at 9 pm; $5-10.
